FRIDAY

It’s like Christmas came early AND Halloween came early, all on the same day! Head out to the Music Hall of Williamsburg and debauch the night away at Cherylween V: Christmas, the latest party hosted by the infamous artist collective CHERYL.

The Museum of Arts and Design is screening animation works by a self-taught animator, Martha Colburn who is known for her collage-style animations. Her “horrific and beautiful” work will surely get you in the mood for Halloween.

Listen in on some of top art critics dicussing current shows at The Review Panel at The National Academy.

SATURDAY

Get our art making rolling by creating outspoken collages about identity inspired by the exhibition Mickalene Thomas: Origin of the Universe with artist and storyteller Caits Meissner at the Brooklyn Museum.

The New Museum presents Rosemarie Trockel: A Cosmos, a conversation between exhibition curator Lynne Cooke and art historian Suzanne Hudson that explores Trockel’s work in depth.

Look deep with into Cage’s life with William Anastasi’s reading from his book The Cage Dialogues: A Memoir at The National Academy.

Pop in The New Museum for a dicussion about the Pluralistic View of the Judson Dance Theater Legacy with Yvonne Rainer, Aileen Passloff and Wendy Perron.

Finish off your weekend with the screeening of Richard Nixon on Super-8 at MoMa to get your full dose of politics for this week.
