Dust yourself off, you’re going to need to start fresh.

 

FRIDAY

Come for a night of stories and story tellers at The Strand, featuring George Saunders and Deborah Eisenberg. They will discuss their new work, each other’s work, and the short story format. Begins at 7 PM.

Experience a different side of New York: a darker one that is. Film Forum and the New Yawk New Wave series co-present a 2-for-1 screening of On the Bowery and The Connection –two gritty, improvised documentaries featuring a colorful cast of Old New York denizens.

The on-going First Look series is screening Greatest Hits by Nicolás Pereda at The Museum of The Moving Image. Get there early; Pereda will be there to discuss the film! Begins at 7:30 PM.

SATURDAY

Everybody loves a mystery. The First Look series continues with a super secret screening of James Benning’s new film at 1 PM, at The Museum of the Moving Image.

Head over to the Lower East Side–abstract painter Gerald Jackson is featuring new work tonight at Gallery Onetwentyeight.

Get dazed and confused with Brian Rogers, and his chaotic, loud, and foggy video performance Hot Box. PS122’s COIL ‘13 Festival and the Chocolate Factory Theatre co-host. Premieres at 8PM.

SUNDAY

Make it a double with the Safdie brothers. The acclaimed filmmaking duo, Josh and Benny Safdie, will present a double feature at the Lincoln Center Film Society. The first installment features five shorts, followed by a screening of their full-length feature Daddy Longlegs. Begins at 8:15 PM.

Tonight, get versatile with the many dimensions of Brazilian filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho. Begins at 7:30 PM at the Museum of the Moving Image .

Cap your weekend with Coil ‘13 by attending their Red + White party at SPIN NYC. There will be ping-pong. Begins at 7 PM.
