Carroll Dunham is a visual artist who lives and works in New York City. Recurrent figures in his bold, almost cartoonish dreamscapes and portraits lend his body of work a narrative quality, whether a man with a top hat and a penis-nose or a brashly flashed vagina claiming center stage with an almost adorably simplified gun. The latter was ostensibly a subject in his most recent solo show, “The Visible Vagina,” at David Nolan Gallery in New York City (January-March 2010).
Mark Epstein is a psychiatrist, writer, and Buddhist. He has written extensively on Eastern thought, and is the author of Thoughts Without a Thinker and Going to Pieces Without Falling Apart: A Buddhist Perspective on Wholeness.
